Welcome to Elmstead Wood Primary School. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
Elmstead Wood Primary School is a one-form entry primary school situated on an extensive site on the edge of Elmstead Wood in the London Borough of Bromley. The original school was opened in 1937 to provide schooling for all the children who originated from the East End of London. The building survived the war and was replaced by a purpose-built building in 1995. In 2018, the school underwent extensive building work which expanded the rear of the school and provided 6 new classrooms to cater for the expansion of our KS2 department to two forms of entry. We are fortunate that the school has large recreational areas for the children, including a field and large playground. We have developed the site so that we are promoting learning outside the classroom with our wild area and our allotment. The children get the opportunity to develop and practise a wide range of skills.

Together at Elmstead Wood Primary School, we strive to create an educational community of respect and inclusion, empowering all to embrace learning, achieve excellence and transform lives.
Our school library is a bright, welcoming space that gives children the perfect opportunity to dive into a new adventure or share a story with friends in a relaxed, cosy setting. We have a wide range of books that are frequently updated, ensuring that there are always popular titles and modern classics to pique a young reader's curiosity. It’s more than just a room full of books; it’s an inviting hub where our students develop a genuine, lifelong love for reading.
We are lucky to have a large woodland area within our school grounds that we use for forestry lessons. It offers a unique space for children to get hands-on with the great outdoors, trading traditional desks for the forest floor as they explore, build, and discover the wonders of the natural world. Every child at our school receives a dedicated block of lessons each year, allowing them to build their skills and environmental awareness as they grow.
We are lucky enough to have a double-decker reading bus right here on site! Arriva donated it to the school in 2019, and it remains a firm favourite spot in the playground.
