Chicks hatch in Reception class!

chicks2 chicks1 chicksThe children had a lovely couple of weeks learning about chicks.  When the eggs arrived, we made predictions about what we thought the chicks might look like when they hatched.  It was magical coming into school on the Wednesday morning and watching three of them hatching from their eggs.  Eight chicks hatched in total, three boys and five girls.  We loved looking after the chicks, feeding them, cleaning their box and holding them.  Over the time we had them, the children were able to observe the changes which took places as they grew and developed their feathers.  The chicks are roaming free now on the farm, but the farmer has promised to send us some photographs.

Autumn Term in Reception

The Autumn Term has been a busy one in Reception.  We started the school year off by thinking about friendship and how to make friends.  We thought of ways to be kind to one another and create a happy learning environment.  We solved mysteries together, by working out whose footprints belonged to who in our playground and later, we visited the moon with our jet packs!  We have also been thinking about signs of Autumn and the changes we can see around us.
